  We made it to first grade. Pick up and drop off has improved greatly.
  Communication isn't great. nightly calls with messages, and the same information is emailed. But it would be nice to have direct contact with her teacher. Remain optimistic on this one. The volunteer hours are difficult to meet as a single parent, and the schools policy doesn't help. I came with my Mom to both volunteer at the same time, but we were told, only one person, per family is allowed. Really? There isn't exactly a line of people waiting to volunteer, but no, no exceptions were made. I found this very disappointing. There are people at this school who are always friendly, and some a little less so. My daughter is happy for now and that is all I hope for. It has started off better than last year, and we are hopeful it will continue to do so.
