  Dr. Hirsch is a gem, the kind of practitioner that when you find him/her you stick with that doc, you will drive far for that doc because Trust is there. For me what makes me value him is his sensitivity, his flexibility to work with me (super important if you have encountered prima donna doctors with ultimatum bedside matters of 'their way or no way' even if the rx given you later proves to cause classaction harm you would've undergone if you took it---bottom line is if you are tired of doctors who want to force their protocol on you and refuse or get angry if you prefer to opt out of following every traditional treatment for whatever reason, yet still care about keeping up on your labs, the meds you are comfortable taking, and not feel belittled or unwanted or abused, and also have comfort of care under a competent knowledgeable physician, Dr. Hirsch is your man.
  
  For that reason I travel from another city to see him, and have kept my relationship with him as my primary for over 15 years, which says a lot by itself. Dr Hirsch looks after a patient's best interest and while he understandably prefers and makes clear he wants all patients to keep to his knowledgeable recommendations, he also is not about the bottom dollar and treats people as people, with respect and the flexibility people may need who, like me, don't want to be forced to follow every protocol because personal research leads them away or personal reasons of other origins. This, alone, is super hard to find in a profession crowded with doctors who only want to be obeyed and care nothing for actually working with a patient's comfort zone, or agenda.
  
  As far as the staff, sometimes phone calls do fall through however, each time I've followed up or spoken with staff, I end up with admirable help, super fast, all my requests taken care of. Now I only say this next because I see posted in another review here this given as a fault that the staff engages in talking/gossip, but I worked years ago at a hospital, and at what job don't employees chat with another, in slow times or fast times---that can be the very thing that keeps moral perked and people awake on the job, so a fault to me that is not---I haven't found they do any more chatting than any other work place where everybody knows everybody; they handle the job, they get it done, but yes, they can be busy, but I've found while it may seem nothing may have happened, your referral or lab test, can have already been taken care of.
  
  There was a time or two in over 15 years of being a patient there, however, miscommunications did lead to something falling through, yet one call and everything was lighting solved. What more can one ask for? Flawlessness? If that is what you seek, then plan on migrating to another planet than earth, for I've never met a flawless staff; however, of all the physican staff's I have worked with, Dr Hirsch staff is high on the list as things are made good if anything goes wrong, and it's like a family relationship: you always are welcome no matter what didn't work perfect that may have led to some frustration, their door never closes to you as some other medical doctors who want obedience, subservience and shut-up-ness from all their patience to meekly take the prescribed rx or protocol, or else risk the boot, self-thinking not allowed, in fact such behavior is hated and you find yourself barred or fired as a patient, something that won't happen to you at Dr Hirsch's office. But above all that, because I value Dr Hirsch's talent as a caring great primary doctor the best I've found for me in 4 decades of doctor encounters, to me that is all that matters. Now for some people that won't be good enough, and what one can want in a doctor can be different for everybody, but if you value what I value which I posted here, you will be happy with Dr Hirsch as your primary doc.
